Once your baby has been eating solids for a couple of months, you can notice that she’s gotten much better at her gross motor skills and is beginning to master the pincer grasp. She can now pick up things and put them into her mouth and is already probably doing so – from your plate! She’s also kind of bored with smooth purees, which means it’s time to add some texture. These banana oatmeal cookies are perfect for babies over 8 months and are perfectly vegan and safe – no sugar or salt, no cow’s milk and no refined flour!
Vegan Banana Oatmeal Cookies for Babies
Ingredients:
- 1 ¼ cup organic oatmeal
- 2 large ripe banana
- ¼ cup apple sauce
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon powder
- ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
Method:
1. Preheat the oven at 180 degrees Celsius for 15 minutes. Line a baking tray with a greased parchment paper.
2. Powder 1 cup oatmeal in a grinder. Keep the rest aside.
3. Mash ripe banana in a mixing bowl. Add apple sauce, and whisk well. Add cinnamon and vanilla extract. Mix.
4. Add the oatmeal flour and remaining oatmeal to the wet ingredients.
5. Mix everything together using a fork or a spatula. The mixture will be slightly crumbly and dry in appearance.
6. Spoon onto a parchment lined baking tray. Press slightly so that the cookies cook evenly.
7. Bake for 15-17 minutes. Allow to cool down before transferring it to air tight container.
This recipe is also a great way to use up ripe bananas and to offer babies an alternative way to eat oats other than oats porridge. Another bonus – this is a great healthy cookie recipe for older kids too!
