Spinach Fritters Recipe for Fussy Eaters

Every Mom has heard a lot about the nutritional benefits of green leafy vegetables like spinach, but what do you do when your toddler makes it a point to pick out every piece of green on his plate? Sometimes we’re sure our toddlers can beat Sherlock Holmes at finding the tiniest clue!

But we have a way to outsmart even the pickiest toddlers and get them to eat spinach and actually enjoy it! Presenting spinach fritters or spinach cutlets, depending upon what you’d like to call them. These are rich in protein, carbohydrates and loads of vitamins and minerals – making them great picks for a lunchbox or travel food!

Ingredients:

Method:

1. Boil enough water in a pan with ginger,garlic and green chilly. Once the water boils, turn off the stove.

2. Add spinach to the hot water and let it stay there for 5 minutes.

3. Strain everything and keep aside. Once cool, grind it to a paste.

4. In a bowl mix together potatoes, cheese, gram flour,salt and all the seasonings.

5. Add the spinach paste to the potato mix. Mix well till combined.

6. Make small patties of the mixture. Dip each patty in cornflour and then roll it in bread crumbs.

7. Shallow fry the patties till brown on both sides. Serve with curd dip, tomato ketchup or coriander chutney.

Spinach Fritters for fussy toddlers

These are also good for kiddie parties – to make them heartier, you can also serve them in between a small bun or pav. We’re sure this is one snack your child can’t resist, and even you’ll have a hard time keeping your hands off!

  • 1 cup spinach leaves, washed
  • ½ cup cottage cheese, crumbled
  • 1 potato, boiled and mashed
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • Red chilly powder (optional)
  • 1 green chilly
  • 4-5 cloves garlic
  • 1 inch ginger
  • ¼ cup roasted gramflour
  • 1 tbsp cornflour
  • Bread crumbs for rolling
