Loved this  #GreatDad video of SBI Life Insurance.
Every daughter has a special relationship with their dad and it takes special effort and care to become a GREAT DADÂ
Well here is a story about one such #GreatDad !!! My Dad!!
I love this quote
â My Father gave me the greatest gift in life he BELIEVED in meâ
Be it my choice of education or husband, my dad believed in me that I will choose the right one, and let me full freedom. I am dubious of myself as a parent, whether I will grant the same freedom to my children.
My dad was a professor of education in Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, a town in Tamilnadu. His students tremble  at his name and he was one of strictest teachers around and maintained the same profile at home đ
Although he was very strict he always gave me the freedom to do what I wanted. He was the one who kindled the love of books in me and had bought me books every time he goes out to the store.
In my childhood days, every summer holidays brought fresh interests in me, be it crafts, painting singing or dancing. My mom was not very appreciative of my varied interests and it was always my dad who allowed me to explore all and discover the right one for me.
In regards to nutrition and health, he was very stern, I had to suffer a hour of berating for having to wear spectacles in 6th standard, and television was banned thereafter till I completed my 12th standard. Can you believe that ?? 6 years No Television at all !! My son throws up a tantrum if I ban television even for a single day!!!
It was also the same dad who allowed to me bunk my 12th standard model exams so that I can prepare for the finals. Well it worked and I entered the elite MBBS course.
I can still remember his words, when I had secured very low marks in my First year MBBS and was mulling over it for a week.
â We learn to practice the education in our life and education is not always about getting good marksâ
I practice the same with my son, I teach him to learn the basics of knowledge and not to secure 100% marks in every exam.
If I feel down or depressed I always turn to my dad for advice, warmth and comfort. Even now after 2 children, if I feel down I call up him and a 5 minute gyaan from him boosts me and I am back again with a bang. He knows exactly what to say when I call freaking out about something. If I am doing something wrong then they are no sugary words, he just puts it in place straight and strict.
Although he guides me in many aspects, he sometimes lets me find my own way by learning from my own mistakes, and maybe it sculpted the Hema what I am today !!
My dad had a tough childhood had to walk daily 10 km to the only school in the town and had to earn  early to save money for his higher studies. His first posting was as a primary school teacher in a government school, he hated his job and wanted to pursue his higher studies but was strapped up for money. He boldly quit his job and begin his journey to Chennai to fulfill his goal. Government jobs were scarce to come by in those years, and quitting a government job was a CRIME!! Well he didnât heed to the society and its stigma and went ahead with his dream. He did his post graduation in Madras University while working odd jobs like taking tutions, writing for research scholars and finished his masters with great difficulty and ended up with his dream job as a Lecturer in a University đ
He always told me
â Choose a job you love and you never have to work a day in your lifeâ
Though I love my job as a doctor due to circumstances I had to resort to something to work from home. When I decided to start this website, both my dad and my hubby backed me up and encouraged me to launch the venture while many ridiculed for quitting my medical career and going online with a blog.
I am proud and grateful to call this wonderful man as my DAD !! Love you Dad !!
I am not very poetic, but my dad deserves this oneâŚ
â You held me when I fell
You spoilt me, You cared for Me
When things got hard, you pushed me through,
I know there were times when I have let you down,
But you were always there for me,
With your Wise Counsel and Encouragement,
I am grateful to be your daughter.
Thanks Dad for you are One in a Million.
I just wanted to say
I Love You
In Every way Every single day !!
