Missi paratha is an integral part of any North Indian bread basket, and is a great option when you’re tired of plain old chapathis! This is a great way to get kids introduced to spicy fare, without burning their tongues!
Missi Paratha Recipe

- 1 cup wheat flour
- 2 tbsp gram flour
- 1 tsp carom seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
- 1/2 cup boiled moong dal
- 1 onion
- 1 inch piece ginger
- Salt
- 1/2 tsp coriander powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder

2. Add all the ingredients in a bowl and knead a dough as for a chapati. Keep the dough in the fridge for at least 15 minutes so that it becomes stiff and easy to roll out.
3. Take a small portion of dough and roll it into a paratha of your desired shape.
4. Cook the paratha with ghee on a tawa, till cooked on both sides. Serve with curd or any raita of your choice.
My son enjoys missi parathas with coriander chutney and in summers, he loves it with raw mango chutney. The options are really endless! Not to mention, this is a great idea for kids’ lunchboxes and for a mess free travel food.
